Marijuana toxicosis:

  • Dogs are extremely sensitive to this drug.

  • A dog can potentially die from just having the smoke blown into their face, or just eating a tiny amount.

  • Signs can be seen within 1-3 hours of eating the drug:                                  drooling, sleepiness, incoordination/staggering, dilated pupils, sensitivity to light & touch, urine dribbling, vomiting, low temperature, low blood pressure, seizures.
  • they can be "out of it" for up to 96 hours
  • TREATMENT: If seen by a vet within 1 hour, we can induce vomiting, then, start I.V. fluids, if needed, and treat seizures, if they start to occur. We monitor pulse, temperature and blood pressure until the drug is out of their system.
